FORGING CONNECTIONS

Welcome to the online-only issue of Observer The new interactive format links to videos, photos and slideshows from your favorite sections of the magazine — Connections, Class Notes, Milestones and more. I hope that as you enjoy this electronic issue, you will be inspired to connect with the university. The valuable resources available include alumni events, career services, regional alumni chapters, and much more.

As I step down as president, I am proud of all that the board has achieved and all that it will accomplish under the strong leadership of Steve Anastasi ’81. Let me end by encouraging everyone to update their profile and information through FalconNet or updatemyinfo@bentley.edu. That is the best way to remain part of the exciting things happening at Bentley and receive the many benefits available to alumni!

CAMPUS GATHERINGS

Back to Basics

Michael Dubuque ’00 was the featured speaker at a February 4

seminar on home-buying basics attended by more than 120

alumni and friends. Dubuque discussed emerging opportunities

and advantages in the ever-changing real estate and mortgage

climate.

Family Affair

More than 250 alumni, faculty, staff and families kicked off

Family Winter Weekend Festival in style at a reception in the

Student Center’s 1917 Tavern on February 20.

Family Weekend brings together (from left) Kay Dong and daughter Michelle ’ 11; Adjunct Assistant Professor Ruth Nemzoff; and Nancy and Jeff Serkes, parents of Ryan ’ 12.

Overtime Success

Nearly 100 President’s Club and Bentley Executive Club alumni

gathered on February 21 to watch the men’s basketball team

take on Pace University. The Falcons pulled out an 85-77

overtime win. Bentley finished its impressive season with a

record of 26-7.

Ramping up for Reunions

There was a tremendous turnout for this year’s initial reunion

planning meeting on March 4. More than 100 alumni from

class years ending with a 4 or 9 gathered for discussions

and brainstorming about what is sure to be the best Alumni

Weekend yet.

Leading Women

Cathy Minehan, former president and CEO of the Federal Reserve

Bank of Boston, was the guest speaker at the first Tufts Health

Plan Women’s Leadership Series, held on March 30. Minehan

drew on insight and experience from her career with the Federal

Reserve System — which spanned nearly four decades — to

address challenges and opportunities created from the current

global financial crisis.

BETTERING THE BAHAMAS

The Class of 2009 headed south for the ninth annual Commencement Week trip to Bahamas, from May 10 to 14. The 500-plus seniors enjoyed

a luncheon at Fort Charlotte, themed club nights, and other festivities. The group also wielded spackle and paintbrushes for a volunteer assign-

ment with the Red Cross. Check out the Bahamas photo gallery and a video of the service project featured on Channel 12 — Cable Bahamas.
