CAMPUS GATHERINGS

Conversing with a Congresswoman

Rep. Niki Tsongas of the 5th Congressional District of

Massachusetts headlined an event sponsored by the Women’s

Leadership Institute at Bentley. Speaking on October 20,

Tsongas covered a wide range of topics, including the

presidential transition, her role in Congress, and the ways

that legislation moves through the House and Senate.

Generation Interest

Alumni and guests learned about Generation Y — individuals

born after 1980 — in a campus presentation on November 18

by faculty member Ian Cross. The senior lecturer in marketing

and director of the Center for Marketing Technology discussed

Gen Y attitudes and behaviors, as well as the issues that

companies face in attracting, hiring, managing and motivating

these young professionals.

Vintage Expertise

Members of the Bentley Executive Club gained insight on the

wine industry, and sampled wine and food pairings, on January

21 in the Dana Center booster suite. The evening featured wine

experts Todd O’Connell ’86, vice president and general manager

of Carolina Wine and Spirits, a Martignetti Company, and Len

Prescutti, certified wine educator, Society of Wine Educators.

AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Social Skating

Nearly 50 hockey alumni hit the ice on November 8 at the John

Ryan Skating Arena in Watertown, then headed into Boston to

socialize before a non-conference matchup between the Falcons

and the Northeastern Huskies. This annual event continues to

expand the ranks of Bentley hockey program boosters.

Winter Winesday

An inaugural Bentley gathering at Gordon’s Fine Wine and

Culinary Center in Waltham was a huge hit. More than 35

alumni took part in the November 19 event, which featured

wine education, tasting and food pairing.

Speedy Work

More than 60 alumni gathered at the Wyndham Hotel in

Andover, Mass., on December 3 for a “speed networking” event

presented by the Alumni Services Committee and sponsors

(l. to r. below) Steve Stanganelli ’91 MSF, Mike Coll ’02 and

Mark Beckley ’80, ’94 MBA. Seated across from each other,

participants had 90 seconds to discuss personal career goals

or company services. The event was such a success that two

more events are scheduled for the spring.
